We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.

 

     

 We at DUSM understand the distress associated with having a family member with  mental illness. This distress may lead to feelings of guilt, anger or shame. It is important to understand that neither you nor the person with the mental illness are to blame for it. 

                                         

              Who is affected by mental illness:

  • EVERYONE--either directly or indirectly. 

    Mental illness is a general term for a group of illnesses. A mental illness can be mild or sever, temporary or porlonged. Mental illness can--and should--be treated!

    The Do-U-See-Me Foundation strives to offer hope in our community through quality housing (room/board), employement training, social & recreational activities,community support,  and day habilitation programs. While research is constantly providing us with new information about the brain and the nature of mental illness. 

      The spectrum of  DUSM provides services for people whose lives have been affected by serious mental illness and temporary homelessness in the service of :

  • Employment Assistance(Dallas/FT Worth Metroplex)
  • Social / Recreational Activities
  • Day Habilitation
  • Information and Referral
  • Independent Living Skills Training
  • Community Outreach and Transition Assistance
  • Computer Training
  • Peer Counseling / Peer Support
  • Veterans Benefits Couseling-assistance for veterans with disabilities including providing information and referrals, offering peer support / counseling.
  • Advocacy Assistance
